I loved this series! Beware, once you start reading them, you will not want to stop. It's four books and I advise all to read them in order.
This author draws you into the stories and characters. The heroine is a hoot. Her internal dialogue cracked me up and she was no wilting flower either. The hero was an awesome character too. They were made for each other. And the supporting character were great too, especially Myrtle. Love that dog.
If you love drama, murder & mysteries surrounded by the love of a very imperfect family, don't miss out on these books.
My only complaint? There were only four books and I want more.

You wait and wait for the next Brown and de Luca novel to be released and 24 hours later your waiting for the next one ! Deadly Obsession was the best so far. A fast paced story that had me forgoing planned chores as I tore through the pages. Hopefully there will be more adventures for this awesome pair.
If you have never read the Rachel Deluca series by Maggie Shayne you are missing out!!! This series is so different and captivating then other suspense books. I have been reading Maggie Shaynes's books for years and this by far is her best books. I would recommend all book in this series if you like a suspenseful page turning read.
J I could not put it down! Totally action, suspense, twists and turns along with a sweet romance. I loved how quirky Rachel was and how strong; and they complemented each other. The family element was beautifully done as well.
Absolutely love this series .. Mason and Rachel have been through alot and it seems things are falling into place for them. Mason reveals his true feelings but Rachel is not quite ready.
Things are going well for them until Mason runs into a burning home to save 2 children, and becomes the fixation of a nutcase Nurse who decides that Mason is her one and only true love. She tried to take out everyone Mason loves so he will turn to her..Including Rachel, his 2 nephews and Myrtle..
Really hate to see this series come to an end...Hopefully Maggie will find it in her heart to give us 1 more.... So we can see them get their happily ever after..
This is the 4th Brown and de Luca book and it's just as good as the rest. This time, Rachel and Mason are fighting to protect not only Mason's nephews but, their mother, who is psychotic, Rachel's family, and themselves from a stalker who is a pyromaniac.
Mason and Rachel's relationship is evolving faster than Rachel ever expected due to the problems caused by this person and their active involvement in the investigation and, to me, that it as fascinating as the race to find this person and keep everyone safe in the meantime. It was another one of Ms. Shayne's books that I did not want to putdown.
First off I love, love, love this series and you should read the first ones before reading this one. Mason becomes the target of a crazy person when they (he and Rachel) come upon on a fire and he saves the lives of some children. And then Rachel is pissed bc he risk his life and got burned doing it, love her by the way, but she is very proud of "her cop". Things escalate from there and the action intensifies, and of course the romance is always there. There's some tense moments where the boys, Masons nephews, are involved . And Myrt what can I say she's an adorable blind bulldog with a great big heart, love her too. Great Job Maggie!!!!
This is the 4th installment in the Brown/DeLuca series from Maggie Shayne and it is terrific read! I have read the previous three and enjoy Ms. Shayne's books overall.

The story begins with a prologue as we meet an arsonist and killer. How many she has killed, the reader is not sure but at least her parents, another man and now a mother and two children as she causes a gas explosion.

In the meantime, Mason Brown, police detective, and Rachel DeLuca, self-help writer, are on their way home from a dinner date and Rachel is agonizing as Mason just told her "I love you" and she is having a problem saying it back even though she knows she does. They spot the fire just set by the arsonist/killer and Mason rushes to the rescue and manages to pull out the two kids! He is badly burned on one arm and is sent to the burn center.

The arsonist/killer sees TV coverage of the fire and rescue and decides that Mason Brown is "the one" for her and sets out on how to capture his interest.

Without giving more away, the story line has several threads, suspense, action and romance. Just enjoyed reading it very much.
