Like most sequels, Rogue's Challenge didn't really live up to its predecessor. But in its own right, it was a good story. Continuing from where we left off in Highlander's Challenge, Ian Southernland was asked by Tuck and Colin to go to the future to retrieve Jenny Maxwell to help with the birth of their baby. But when he arrives in the future, there was an altercation where Jenny has lost her glasses. And Jenny is practically blind without them. Now, they have to travel to find her some glasses before the baby is born.I doesn't sound much of plot, but it gets the story moving along nicely and perfectly sets up the villain of the story. This might be spoiler but . . . what really bothered me about the villain was the fact he followed them into the fountain and he lacked surprise that he travel back in time. He took it as though it was an everyday occurrence which seem kind of odd. Which I know would freak me out. But that's just me. You are visited by Tuck and Colin a lot in the story which I loved. They are both as funny and loving. Ian was still his charming, ladies' man self. But you also get to know Ian better and his history, why he was the way he was. Despite being a scientist and being under her father's thumb, Jenny wasn't a weakling but as stubborn as Tuck but still have many insecurities. You watched them try to overcome their pasts throughout the story and it was nicely done. The story was paced nicely and there was enough action in the middle and end to keep interested. Plus, the ending tied up all the loose ends nicely.
It was sweet story. It didn't have the humor that I love in Highlander's Challenge but it was a good and worth reading just to see everyone's have their happily ever afters.

Really like the book. Love to read about time travel. Like to read of Scotland and England. I'm a great fan of such books.
As a follow-up book this was a good short story. I usually don't even look at anything not over at least 300+ pages! But I wanted to see what was to come and this book did the trick!
This one was as interesting as the first book. The characters were brought together in a fun way. Loved the location
I am a sucker for a good romance with a paranormal twist. I was searching for a new read and came across Jo Barrett's all to short series. I have to say I loved the first one Highlander's Challenge and had to read the second. I thought it was well written however far to short. Ms. Barrett has a wonderful way with the Scots I so wish she would consider a revisit to these lovely people and their stories. There are still so many ways she could continue with the story line. That being said, they are both good reads.. just far to short. I am a long series kind of person.
I read Highlander's Challenge and and really enjoyed Tuck and Colin's relationship, even if Tuck was a little "super" powered. I thought that Rogue's Challenge would be a good read, but I was wrong. It was all too predictable. He fell for her on sight. I don't know how these Highlander men survived before time travel brought some modern ladies to them. He was ga-ga and I thought it was a boring book--and I love Highlanders and time travel stories. I was very disappointed and just began scanning it to get through it.
The story of Cox following them through time and falling right into the medieval life was not believable and his chasing Jenny to get back at her father was far fetched.
It was good to see how Amelia (Tuck) and Colin were doing, but that was the best part of the book. Don't buy it if you think you're getting another great story.
Summary Amelia "Tuck" Tucker and her Highlander husband are happily married, and expecting their first child, in sixteenth century Scotland. Tuck is originally from the 21st century, and the anxiety of delivering the baby without modern medicine has become overwhelming. She wants her friend Jenny, a brilliant doctor and scientist, to travel back in time for the birth.
Tuck and Colin's best friend Ian volunteers to go to the future to find Jenny and bring her back. It turns out that finding Jenny isn't a problem, nor is getting her to travel back through time. But, when Jenny arrives in the past without her glasses, she doesn't think she'll be of any help to anyone. Without her glasses she is almost blind. In the sixteenth century, good spectacles are hard to come by.
Once again, Ian comes to the rescue. Ian takes Jenny on a road trip to Edinburgh to locate a new pair of glasses. Along the way, they finally give into the attraction that has been burning between them. They don't know that someone has followed them to the past to kidnap Jenny, and he might just succeed in ruining their happiness.
Review Similar to the first book in this series, I really liked the characters. Jenny is a genius with a photographic memory. She isn't physically strong like Tuck, but she is definitely mentally strong. Ian is intelligent, but he is also charming, brave, and thoughtful. They make a cute couple.
Unfortunately, also like the first book, the storyline isn't as interesting as the characters. Jenny and Ian both think they aren't good enough for the other, and as a result, they jump to incorrect assumptions and sabotage their own happiness. It's a story that has been told thousands of times in thousands of ways. All they have to do is be honest with each other and their problems would go away.
If you've read the first book in this series, Highlander's Challenge, then I would recommend reading this one as well. I think you'll enjoy seeing Ian and Jenny find their happily ever after. This really isn't a book I would recommend as a stand-alone story if you haven't read the first book. Besides the simple plot, it is also a shorter book at only 172 pages.
